WOW!

The kids did an absolutely wonderful job and it has already been a long day for them! They are all back in the Hotel and some are in their rooms sleeping.

I'll post some pictures right after we get the uniforms packed and the instruments put in their cases.

Thanks for all your support back home and for getting up early to watch the parade. The Londoner's really enjoyed the kids and their music, plus many positive comments about their nice uniforms.

Fantastic job! The sound was great and you were the best looking group out there. The commentators seemed genuinely impressed. Nice to see the adults as well.

What a great parade Lincoln East! After marching past all those famous historical sites, it may be hard to take other parades seriously. You obviously were well prepared and cared a lot about the impression you would make.

In particular, kudos go out to (1) a tight drumline (especially the interaction between toms and snares), (2) brass and woodwing sections that resisted the temptation to overblow and therefore played balanced and intune ensemble, (3) boosters who had their act together and made it possible for the kids to do their best, (4) directors who put together an exceptionally well- planned and successful international trip, and (5) an entire band that looked like they took good care of themselves and each other so they could be at their best five days into an adventure like this.

Bravo to all of you! You gave us a completely enjoyable New Year's Day here in London.

Best wishes,

Dave

Wanted to let you know we had left an earlier comment that did not appear to make thru on the blog.

So we are trying again to let you know how great you looked and sounded on TV. We watched patiently from the beginning and at approx. 8 a.m. you came down the street.

The TV coverage was at the end of the parade and showed the band coming toward the camera from a good distance. We were able to see the whole band formation with the Lincoln East High Banner in front and those good looking flags right behind.

Mr. Nielsen looked very dapper marching along side. The TV showed a lot of close-ups from their street level camera while marching and then while standing and playing. As you started marching again they showed those good looking band boosters waving to the crowd and the band as they turned to the right and went around the corner.

In our opinion East was one of the best marching, good looking and sounding bands in the parade. Your uniforms looked great from the hats down to the shining shoes.

The TV announcers did a job of letting viewers know about where the band was from. They were also very complimentary and appreciative.

Great job and hope you had fun.

The Brandts.
